Chawton – an autumn day in the English countryside

The thrilling adventures of last weekend were followed by a relatively calm week of classes. To finish off the week, however, my Jane Austen class rose early this morning to take a lovely day trip out into the country, visiting Chawton House Library and the Jane Austen’s House Museum – about an hour south-west of London.

If any of you are Janeites (yes, that is a real thing), you will recognized these two places as the beautiful country homes of Jane’s brother, Edward Knight, and Jane herself. Read on!

Preseli Part 2

At long last, here is an account of our Saturday at Preseli – spent sea kayaking and coasteering!

We started our morning by kayaking. When we arrived at the harbor a salty, chilly breeze was whispering past us, but we were kept warm by our wet suits and our anticipation of adventure.

Preseli Part 1

I just had one of the most amazing experiences in my life. And that is no exaggeration. To think that I almost didn’t go to Preseli Ventures – an eco lodge and adventure trip center – because of the money. I assure you that the beauty I saw and the nature that I experienced literally first hand (I have the barnacle scratches to prove it) were 100%, absolutely priceless…probably even life changing. Not to mention that the facilities and food at Preseli were amazing. The vegetarian lasagna alone could change your life forever. Read on!
